To find out more about each school, I ordered the ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools. It was $35 but worth it to me because it had many dental school statistics.
The book was divided into 2 parts: Becoming a dentist and Individual Schools. In the latter part, the book gives you a 2 page synopsis of each school. Information include: genaral info, admission requirements, required courses, DAT/GPA requirements, international requirements, timeline, cost and financial aid, and selection factors. Of course most of the info can be found online, but I liked having everything there in one book, accessible whenever I wanted.
The most interesting part are the tables at the beginning of the book. The tables showed the total number of applications for each school and the total number accpeted with a break down of males/females, races, ave age, ave DAT scores, ave GPA, & in state/out of state ratios.
I have summarized some of the data below, but only a small amount of it. The data is also out-of-date and a lot of the statistics have changed since then. For example, there were 1724 applications to Nova for the 2003-04 cycle. That number jumped to over 3000 for Nova for the 2005-06 cycle. They also increased their enrollees from 100 to 105.
However, the below numbers may be useful to get a ball-park feeling.
